Having accepted I was a firm member of the Itty Bitty Titty Committee a few of years ago, I knew it was time for me to ditch the awful over-padded bras (literally once bought one with bloody air pockets in…) and stop trying to please anyone other than myself with the size of my chest. The best thing that actually came from that? More confidence! Accepting your body for how it is is one of the hardest/most mentally draining things to try to do and it rarely gets easier! But even just accepting one tiny thing (or two lol) about yourself is a massive triumph!
Since this revelation I have built up a lovely little collection of bras/bralets that are super comfy yet still super pretty and flattering – even for the tiniest of boobs!
The thing I always hated about bra shopping was that every shop has a different size, for the same size! Like most items of clothing in different shops, I guess. But when trying to buy padded bras for smaller boobs there is the fear that you could pick up the smallest size in the shop and it could still hang off you and bring you down even trying it on. This happened to me sooooooo many times; it was so hard to shake that shamed feeling.
But now I genuinely love bra shopping! Especially now it means I’m not searching for a bra with enough padding to fill the cell the search would potentially put me in and THE SMALLER THE BETTER. Lets face it, its not as though our wee ones need supporting! Which most of my larger chested gals say is a blessing in disguise! That being said, in no way do I think bigger boobs aren’t beautiful either. On the contrary, it’s more that whatever letter of the alphabet your boobs file under (or even if they don’t!) every one of them is as beautiful as you yourself and should be accepted as such. By you and only you. (That ended up getting real deep there… but I’m serious!)
I love bras/bralets that are plain enough to look fab underneath anything! A shirt, a t-shirt, a loosely knitted jumper, you name it! My ultimate favourite places to get itty bitty bras are H&M, Primark (they are slaying the underwear game rn) River Island and Urban Outfitters to date.
I LOVE this ones block lines, thick straps and panelled ‘cup’. It’s more of a statement to an outfit. I like wearing it under a half open white shirt and jeans for a more casual look or with a vest top and culottes show it off a bit, thanks to the thicker straps it looks less like you’re just flashing your bra!
This one is so pretty and feminine with its sheer material, embroidered flowers and thinner straps. It looked fab under this sheer top when i saw Beyoncè last year and adds a little ‘sex appeal’ to an outfit. Perfect for date night too! (wish I had better pictures but its currently MIA… it’s gone to that place all of your favourite clothes go… but I’m sure it will turn up in a few months…)
I fell in love with this Primark one (I’m sure you’ll have seen this one all over insta by now, its super popular!) its the sheer eyelash lace that drew me in. Even though this one looks much more like actual underwear than some others it looks lovely just peeking out from under a silk shirt or plain white tee or something similar! I feel if it was slightly longer I could get away with it as a ‘bralet top’ with super high waisted pants though like in that photo.
Anyway, all I’m trying to say is that you and your itty bitty boobs are fine gals; yes that is despite anyone else may tell you, their opinion is completely irrelevant. It’s an uphill struggle trying to love your bits and bobs and everyone HAS to go at their own pace. It’s taken me 24 years and is still something I struggle with every day but WE ARE ALL IN THIS TOGETHER. (automatically starting singing HSM after typing that, fyi)
I’ve had this post written for a while and it was originally just supposed to be about where to get nice bras for little boobs but all this poured out instead! Seemed fitting to finally finish it and share it now to pay homage to #InternationalWomensDay tomorrow!
Itty bitty? Big n bouncy? Anywhere in-between?? I salute you.
With Love, Naomi x
